| Hello
my name is Emily and I am a millennium baby, born on St. patrick's Day.
My Mum has a scoliosis but this didn't interfere with my safe arrival
at the hospital. I have an older sister, Hannah, she is 14 years old and I love sitting in her room listening to music and pulling all sorts of funny faces in her mirror. My favourite game is playing rough and tumble with Dad. With help from the physio I am just about crawling on my own. |
![]() My name is Rebecca Cahill, my husband's name is Brett. We have two children, Robbie and Lottie. Robbie was born at Chase Farm Hospital (Enfield) on 22nd April 1995, followed 15 months later by his sister on 24th July 1996. The first few years of our children's lives whizzed by in a blur of bottles, nappies, illnesses, appointments, attempts at stimulation, reading books and articles on Down's Syndrome and coping. Now as more relaxed parents, we look with pride on our children, to see how well they both cope with what life throws at them. Robbie spent extra time enjoying nursery, and now both of them are in reception classes at the same school. As with everything in Robbie's life, he achieves his "milestones" as and when he wants to. It is only now he is showing an inclination towards drawing, and has recently started drawing circles. His early years saw a determination to walk, which he achieved at 15 months, but this produced a delay in his fine motor skills, he would never sit still long enough to do puzzles or hold a crayon. His visual memory and capabilities are outstanding. He has grown into an individual who is sports mad. Football is a favourite, alongside rugby, tennis, snooker, athletics and gymnastics. Becoming a parent of a child with Down's Syndroem, in our experience, doesn't have to be all bad. Life in general is always taking unexpected turns, this was a "turn" we were unaware we were about to take, and despite all the upset, we lead a full, happy, fun and dare I say normal family life. Long may it continue. |
My
name is Victoria and here I am driving a Lego car at Lego Land near London.I am 16months old here, and I am crawlling all over the place, going up the stairs, standing and walking around the furniture, opening the cupbords and taking every thing out which drives my Mum mad. I think I am doing very well maybe it is because my parentes do every thing they can to help me. My mum did baby massage on me since I was born, and I have been to physio since I was 3 months old. I also have cranial osteopathy, swiming and now Yoga4special Kids. I have been potty training since I was 9 months and I love "reading" books... and eating them when I have chance. I am amazed that I can make marks on paper with a pen and I love watching TV, especially Teletubbies. I also like small furry animals. My Mum and Dad are Richard & Maria, and you can see more of me on my own web site at; Victoria's Web Site |
